FFA Alumni International Experience Program (Posted 1-15-2002) It is important for tomorrows agricultural leaders to gain international experience. Research shows that youth with international experience are more self-confident, more independent and more culturally sensitive than their peers. Graduate colleges and employers value international experiences. Beyond personal benefits, the FFA Explorer and International 4-H Youth Exchange programs have a broader social purpose. Opportunities are available to Alumni of FFA and 4-H, 19-30 years of age, to participate in international exchange programs. FFA and 4-H organize 6-week, 3-month, and 6-month exchange programs with rural youth organizations in over twenty-five countries. Participants in these programs live and work as part of the family; moving to a new family every 3 to 5 weeks, to gain a broader perspective about life in their host country. Illinois 4-H provides scholarships for participants in the IFYE program. For more information, applicants may contact Ann Rund in the State 4-H Office at (217) 333-1256. Interested FFA members should contact Cecile Babich Morrow at (602)943-7168 or send an Email note to CDIntl@worldnet.att.net.
